Kutipan di atas merupakan pernyataan dari  duo Omar Prazhari dan Jugo Djarot yang memproklamirkan diri sebagai Tender Shoots. Tender Shoots sendiri merupakan projek duet musik yang didasarkan atas persahabatan jarak jauh antara penyanyi cum penulis lagu Jugo Djarot dari Bintaro, dan pekerja kantoran Omar Prazhari dari Jakarta.

Sebelumnya, Jugo Djarot lebih dulu dikenal sebagai vokalis sekaligus gitaris dari band garage rock bernama Circarama. Sedangkan Omar Prazhari sudah lebih dulu mentereng bermusik di ATSEA juga baru-baru ini ia merilis EP bertajuk “No Music” melalui projeknya yang lain bernama Glyph Talk. Atas dasar kecintaanya yang kuat pada musik pop nostalgia, pakaian vintage, dan selera humor yang receh akhirnya mereka berdua memutuskan untuk membuat sebuah projek musik yang baru.

Omar yang sempat mencicipi study di luar negeri, tentu bakal banyak memiliki dan menyimpan referensi musik penting. Tak kalah dari Omar, Jugo pun memiliki segudang referensi yang barangkali bisa kita kulik bersama. Untuk Nada Siasat kali ini kami meminta kedua orang ini untuk membagikan musik yang memiliki pengaruh untuk Tender Shoots. Berikut adalah rangkuman Nada Siasat pilihan Tender Shoots. Jerry Paper – Ginger and Ruth

This song was used as the main reference for vocal technique. Using medium to lower vocal register to get a much more soothing and calming sound while still maintaining the quirky quality of the overall vocal.

John Lennon – Jealous Guy 

Something that both of us didnt come to realize earlier in the writing and recording of Alive Again. Another obvious example is the whistle bit at the end of the song.

Definitely inspired me (jugo) , especially the flirty bass line combined with the sturdy rhythm, and dreamy electric piano licks. Not to mention the ‘classic cartoon music’ vibe throughout the song.

Marc Russo’s – Neighborhood (The Sims)

We love the first sims soundtrack so much, i think the whole album deserved a grammy award.

The Lemon Twigs – Hog

A piano based ballad with lots and lots of sensitivity and raw emotions. Ive always been a fan of 60s – 70s Ballad, and Hog by The Lemon Twigs really sounded like it was borrowed straight from The Carpenters’ and David Bowie’ Catalog. (Jugo)

Richard Hawley – The Ocean

This whole project started because we geeked out too much on Richard Hawley’s music. His signature sound is sleek and majestic, we aspire to be like him.

Masayoshi Tanaka – I Remember You

We also both Masayoshi Tanaka, especially his “All of Me” album. One track that stands out the most is this one, the groovy beat and the string arrangements really go hand in hand.

Astronauts,etc – The Border

We love this song way too much to be honest. Well i do (omar), because its the perfect combination of nostalgic yet contemporary piece of music. The string arrangements reminds me of 70s italian movie soundtracks, which Im a big fan of.

Cindy Lee – I dont want to fall in love again

Just a really sweet and simple lo fi ballad. I strive to make music as stripped down and raw as this one (omar)
